Spay & Neuter Benefits

This month, take advantage of a Century Veterinary Group special offer to give your pet the gift of a longer, healthier life. For the month of May, receive 10% discount for spaying and neutering. By choosing to spay or neuter an animal, you not only contribute to your own pet's continued well-being, but you ease the burden on shelters and help assure that more animals enjoy the benefits of loving homes and good care.

5 Reasons for Surgery:

  •     Eliminate the risk of unwanted pregnancy; ease the burden on shelters
  •     Drastically reduce the incidence of some cancers
  •     Enhance overall health and contribute to a longer life span
  •     Curb aggressive behavior, fighting, roaming, marking territory and howling
  •     Save on overall cost of veterinary care

Animal homelessness is a huge problem in every state. It is estimated that between 6-8 million animals enter shelters each year, and only about half are adopted. The rest are, unfortunately, euthanized. Those not in shelters have very little chance of living a good life.

Neutered males and spayed females both live longer than their unsterilized counterparts, and females who are spayed before their first heat are typically healthier. Contrary to popular belief, the procedures do not make animals fat or lazy. Nor does spaying or neutering negatively affect a pet's personality. If anything, the surgery may help calm an active animal, making a pet easier to train and socialize. Hormonal changes resulting from removal of the reproductive organs may be responsible, but desirable traits, such as a dog's protective instincts, are not affected.

When is the best time? Our veterinary staff will advise you, but sterilization can be scheduled as early as eight weeks in some cases. The minimally-invasive surgical procedures are quite routine and require only a short recovery time. Most animals feel little discomfort.

We realize you want only the best for your pet, whether you have a newborn or a newly-adopted animal. If your pet has not been spayed or neutered yet, why not take advantage of our May discount? We'll help your pet through the surgery and care for it throughout its long and healthy life. Call us today at 310-734-0176  for more information or schedule an appointment.
